Ahavah Community Initiative connects people facing food insecurity due to financial struggles to locally farmed, regeneratively grown produce by offering donated memberships to a local CSA program. Memberships include a weekly bag of fresh vegetables along with discounted (or free) farm tours, classes, and events centered around healthy living and environmental consciousness.
Milton Foster Children's Fund (MFCF) provides unduplicated resources for foster children, ages 0-21, to give them a sense of normalcy in a situation that is anything but normal. Resources may include financial support for unmet needs and activities, life-skills workshops such as budgeting, self-care, and nutrition, and access to free clothing and accessories through The Hanger, a project within MFCF.
CP is Teller County’s go-to organization for families to get support. In early 2020, CP served hundreds of families with emergency support and meals, while continuing programming virtually. Throughout 2020 and all its difficulties, CP has and will continue to provide services and programs to ensure local families are self-reliant, healthy, and successful. Help CP recover for a successful 2021!
Court Care provides free childcare for anyone who has court-related business in the Pikes Peak Region. Children are welcomed into a nurturing, safe space away from potentially traumatic courtroom proceedings (e.g., domestic violence, divorce, rape, child custody, etc.). Struggling parents are able to speak with dignity and participate in legal matters without children seeing, hearing, or possibly distracting them
Our extended family of volunteers serve as “aunts, uncles and grandparents” on teams who support local foster families & youth who “age out” of care at 18. Through meaningful relationships & removal of practical barriers, we help heal past wounds of trauma so these kids can become healthy, productive citizens. Stability, enrichment and connections build the resiliency kids need to thrive.
HEARS provides hearing aids to those who need but cannot afford them, to improve their quality of life. This is accomplished by being all-volunteer & using local audiology partners to provide new, individualized hearing aids to clients with incomes below 125% of Federal poverty level. Over 2,300 lower income, disadvantaged El Paso residents have received the gift of hearing since our founding 32 years ago.
ONWT is a resource & referral agency providing a manifold of Native-specific, culturally appropriate programs, services, & crisis interventions for American Indian & Alaska Natives, who disproportionately experience greater levels of poverty, health issues, hunger, homelessness & unemployment than any other US demographic. We help transition individuals & families out of crisis & into healthy, sustainable situations.
Parents Challenge was founded in 2000 to empower low-income parents in the Pikes Peak Region with the financial, informational, and personal resources they need to choose, and actively participate in, the option THEY think is best for their children—be it traditional public, private, charter public, or home.
When cancer hits below the belt, we are here to help! Sue’s Gift provides financial and emotional support for women with gynecologic cancer. Financial assistance helps women pay bills during treatment. Woman to Woman trains and empowers survivors, at least one-year post treatment, to mentor a newly diagnosed patient with the same cancer type. We celebrate survivorship, build community and raise awareness
As the only comprehensive human services organization and pantry located in and providing services to economically disadvantaged households in northern El Paso County, we provide emergency, relief, and self-sufficiency programs to those need. We help resolve difficult choices for families between paying the rent, putting food on the table, getting a needed prescription and so much more.
