HEARS provides hearing aids to those who need but cannot afford them, to improve their quality of life. This is accomplished by being all-volunteer & using local audiology partners to provide new, individualized hearing aids to clients with incomes below 125% of Federal poverty level. Over 2,300 lower income, disadvantaged El Paso residents have received the gift of hearing since our founding 32 years ago.
HEARS allows our neediest to again hear effectively! To enjoy music, work, feel safer and again socialize with friends and family. Only one program in the Springs for the disadvantaged provides fully subsidized new, digital hearing aids fitted by professional Audiologist services – HEARS! Our average client cost is over $750 and we make it work, serving those at or below 125% of the Federal poverty income level.
HEARS gets great discounts for hearing aids and services from our professional audiologist partners, and spends very little on administration. Due to our efficient model, we just ‘need’ funding.
Over 2,300 Coloradans in the El Paso county community have the gift of hearing – socializing, working, enjoying music – because of HEARS!
“I've had hearing aids since childhood. During a very tough time in my life, I could not afford the new, stronger aids I needed. HEARS gave me new, more powerful aids and I am now fully employed in a job I love - as a community affairs coordinator!” — Dianne R. - client of HEARS
