Children’s Hospital Colorado offered the first – and is still the only – pediatric emergency behavioral health program in Southern Colorado. The pandemic highlighted the need for pediatric behavioral health expertise and greater access to mental health services for kids and teens in Southern Colorado. Children’s Colorado, Colorado Springs aims to address this need and provide the best care for kids in our community.

In 2021 Children’s Colorado saw a 59% increase in the number of children in the Emergency Department due to a mental health crisis, compared to pre-pandemic numbers.
