For 25 years, Catamount Institute has inspired kids’ connection to nature. We facilitate programs pre-K to high school in Teller and El Paso counties, and serve more than 8,000 young people a year. Our programs build an educated understanding of the natural world and nurture future sustainable-minded leaders. Kids experience a positive, supportive and safe outside experience.
Time spent in nature boosts happiness, positive emotion, kindness, physical and mental health! Our holistic and high-quality programs educate, provide mentoring, foster values of respect and curiosity, and allow kids the chance and time to explore our remarkable outdoors beyond the screen. We show nature is everywhere and have a ton of fun discovering this together.
We need 2 more vans; van vehicle maintenance; teaching supplies; groundskeeping/landscaping; 10 new laptops; accessible wheelchair attachments.
93% of 4th and 5th grade students in Catamount Institute’s after school programs reported a positive change to their relationship with the environment.
“I can’t say enough about how great your program is. Our kids don’t get the chance to learn about and experience the outdoors. Your program is engaging and leads to lifelong experiences and the love of nature for these kiddos.” — Teacher at Adams Elementary School
