The Arc Pikes Peak Region

What

Founded in 1955 and serving El Paso, Teller and Park Counties, The Arc Pikes Peak Region is part of the largest grassroots movement to protect the rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), promoting quality of life for all people, and helping people with IDD reach their dreams and achieve their goals through exceptional advocacy and a fundamental belief in everyone’s ability to thrive.

Why

The history of living with a disability in the United States has largely been one of discrimination, segregation, and exclusion from education, work, housing, and even from routine daily activities. Though progress has been made there is still a lot of work to do in order to make true community integration and recognition of civil rights a reality for ALL, including those with the most significant disabilities.

Needs

We need Educational Navigator volunteers for our Succeeding in School and Life Program. Educational navigators work with families to empower parents to be the primary educators of their homeschooled kids.

Did You Know

In the past year, $0.90 of every dollar The Arc Pikes Peak Region brought in went directly back into the IDD community.

“School & Life Program has been an answer to our prayers. Thanks to this educational support program, we now have software and equipment to work with Jonatan in a more efficient way. We now feel more reassured and not so much doubtful...” — Myrna Rodriguez -Parent of student in School & Life Program
